Met Leo Laporte Today!!!
August 12th, 2009I’m so excited!!! I got to meet Leo Laporte this morning. We stopped at the Twit cottage right before he got in. We visited with another man and his wife. He was even more excited about meeting Leo than I.
Leo is like a rock star to me. I never thought I would be able to meet him. Plus knowing all the other people that have been to the Twit cottage makes it even more exciting. I even go to sit on Leo’s ball.

Wine Tasting
August 12th, 2009Tuesday we did 4 wine tastings. We found some good and some bad wines. It was a ton of fun. Our first stop was at a castle winery. It was amazing to walk through. Part of “Bed Time Story” was filmed here. That made it even more amazing.
Red Woods - Land of the Giants
August 12th, 2009Our trip to the Red Woods was amazing. We made a few stops and got up close to them. It was very peaceful. At one of the stops we walked down to the river. The water was cool.
It’s hard to comprehend the size of the trees. That’s one tree behind us.
Coast
August 12th, 2009We made it to the Pacific ocean! The water is very cold. The currents pull cold water from the north down. The coast is around 65 degrees all the time. If you drive 30 minutes inland the temp will rise 20 degrees.
Lagoon
August 12th, 2009We stopped and checked out a Lagoon on our way to the Red Woods.
299 drive
August 9th, 2009We went from Redding CA to the Red Woods “Land of the Giants.” We took the 299 and it’s magnificent. The mountains are breathtaking. Like when you see your bride on your wedding day.
I don’t understand why they put the road on the edge of a cliff. Why wouldn’t they at least put up guard rails. But I’m trusting in God he will keep us safe.
Hosts
August 8th, 2009We are staying with a very nice couple. They have this separate living area next to their house. I think it’s as big or maybe bigger than our condo.
They even got a few things for us to eat. I made bacon and eggs for myself, the way my Grandpa Johnson used to make them. Becca ate a muffin and some of my bacon.
This morning we went down by the river and enjoyed the peace. It is so relaxing and energizing. They have a wonderful place here.
Car Rental
August 8th, 2009The car rental was crazy. The line was very long. We waited in line for a good 40 minutes. We ended up getting a Nissan Altima Hybrid. It’s a fun car to drive. When you push the accelerator the car moves using the electric motor, it’s silent.
I caught myself going 80MPH with it a few times. I’m impressed with it.
